Musumeci is a musical project led by Mauro Di Martino, Sicilian DJ and producer since the late 80s.
After two decades of releasing music under various aliases, Mauro adopted the alter ego of Musumeci in 2009.
In 2014, the album ‘The Gemini Project’ on Engrave Ltd put Musumeci on the map by receiving strong support from important players in the music industry.
In 2015, Bedrock asked Musumeci to remix Nick Warren & Guy Mantzur’s ‘Sad Robot’, which reached #5 on the Beatport Techno Chart.
That same year, he also reached #1 on the Beatport Electronic Music Chart twice, with Musumeci’s remix of Patrick Chardronnet’s ‘All I Got’ on Connaisseur Recordings and with Musumeci & Lehar’s remix of Ost & Kjex’s anthem ‘Easy’ on Diynamic Music.
In 2016 he debuted his side project Human Machine, releasing two EPs (‘146’ on Connaisseur Recordings and ‘The Mule’ on Exit Strategy), as well as the track ‘Africa’ on Diynamic Music.
All of those tracks are among the 100 most played tracks of the year according to Resident Advisor.
In 2017, Musumeci debuted on Solomun’s Diynamic Music with the ‘Mood Organs’ EP.
The release reached #7 on Beatport’s overall sales and opened doors for him on the international club and festival scene.
In 2018, the songs “Penfield Setting” and “Kamakura” taken from the eponymous debut EP on Bedrock reached the top of Beatport Progressive Chart (respectively ranked #1 and #3), while “Babylon” by Musumeci & Phunkadelica on Innervisions reached the top of Beatport Deep House Chart and stayed at #1 for 5 weeks in a row.
That same year, together with his partner Lehar, he established his own night called MUSE; a conceptual event where Musumeci & Lehar invite DJs and producers who inspire them thanks to their unique sound and vision in electronic music.
Born as a traveling event, in 2019 Muse by Lehar & Musumeci found its summer residency at Heart, Ibiza, where the party takes place every first Tuesday of the month, from June to October.
Constantly in demand as a producer and remixer, his music appears on labels such as Bedrock, Connaisseur, Compost Black Label, Correspondant, Diynamic Music, Exit Strategy, Get Physical, Innervisions, Kompakt, Moblack, Permanent Vacation, Rebirth, Toy Tonics and Watergate.
Musumeci is the owner of Engrave Ltd, Multinotes Recordings and Buttress Records.
